Marc Hostetter
development Coach
Marc Hostetter is entering his 4th season as a coach with the DistinXion CHAMPIONS program. With over 20 years of coaching experience as a High School Varsity Head Coach at Mt. Vernon High School and an Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach at the University of Southern Indiana, Marc has gained valuable experience in helping young men grow as people and players. USI’s all-time leader in assists and member of the USI Athletics Hall of Fame, Marc helped lead USI to 11 NCAA II Tournament appearances as a player and coach. As a player at USI, Coach played for a National Championship in 1994 and 1995, winning the 1995 Division II National Championship. Hostetter’s 7th season of coaching was highlighted with USI’s return to the NCAA II Elite Eight. The 2003-04 appearance in the championship game marked the third time that he appeared in the title game, and Hostetter’s first as a coach. He has spent two seasons as an assistant under Bruce Pearl, two seasons under Coach Mike Leeder at Longwood College in Virginia and seven seasons with Coach Rick Herdes at USI. At Longwood College Marc helped lead the Lancers to a 23-8 overall record in 2001, Longwood’s first-ever Carolinas-Virginia Athletic Conference championship, and an NCAA Division II Tournament appearance.
In his seven seasons as Mt. Vernon High School’s Boys Varsity Coach, the 2012-13 season was a special one for the Wildcats. They started the season 10-0 for the first time in school history and went on to finish with a 17-7 record. The 17 wins were the most since the 1979-80 season. Being a part of a successful team allowed some individuals to garner recognition from around the State and the coaching staff was selected as the HBCA District II Coach of the Year.
As a four year starter at L & M High School and White River Valley High School, Coach was a part of 3 Sectional championships, two Regional championships and played for a single class semi-state championship in 1993.
Coach Hostetter is a native of Lyons, IN, a 1993 graduate of White River Valley High School, earned his Bachelor’s Degree as a 1998 graduate of the University of Southern Indiana and earned his Master’s Degree in Instructional Leadership from the American College of Education in 2018. Currently Marc resides in Mt. Vernon, IN and is the Principal at Mt. Vernon Junior High. He is joined in the coaching and education profession by his wife, Nikki, and two sons, Leo and Nash.
